The much anticipated match between the Super Eagles and the Bafana Bafana went down yesterday at the Cairo international stadium.
The first few minutes of the match didn't give me an inkling of what may happen. Filled with lots of yellow cards, especially to the South Africans and plenty missed chances, it was a thrilling match. The opening goal was scored at the 27th minute by Chukwueze Samuel.
This was the status till Percy Tau scored in the second half at the 71st minute, a goal that was controversial and required the use of VAR to accept (many thanks to Ighalo for the assist 😬).
The winning goal came in at the 89th minute and was scored by William Troost-Ekong. It was a tense atmosphere till the final whistle was blown. Nigeria has now qualified to the semifinal stage of the tournament. We will be playing the winner of the Algeria vs Ivory Coast on the 14th of this month.
Today's fixtures are;
Ivory coast - Algeria 5pm GMT+1
Madagascar - Tunisia 8pm GMT+1
Chukwueze is definitely the Man of the match while Musa finishings were not things to write home about. I hope to see Mikel play soon
