Thawed

Yesterday I opened the fridge
in which I keep memories,
in which I keep residues of my life,
vestiges of my history,
evidence of where I come from
and where I am going to.

I took from it the piece of my heart
that you infected,
hoping to thaw it and return it to its place
without it continuing to beat your name.

To my surprise,
a ray of sunlight was enough to melt it,
a halo of light was enough to wake it up,
a second was enough to revive it
and that it could resume its usual pace.

I thought it would forever be
a foretaste of my death
a part of me that was ahead of me on the trip,
but now i see i won't die for your name
and that I am no longer a victim of your flesh.

I'm finally whole again
And I can throw away the bottle
that you condemned me to
I can stop being a slave of time, and yet ...
It hurts me that it doesn't hurt to miss you.
