Lhokseumawe is one of the districts in Aceh. The area is surrounded by sea and river. Most of the population in this district pursue fisheries. Along with the development of the era and the increase of population growth which is accompanied by the increasing need of animal protein by humans every year, it is necessary to increase fish production as one source of food and protein source. Increased fishery production can be done with fish cultivation activities.
Efforts towards fish cultivation in public waters are needed as a counterweight and help the fulfillment of fish production that has been obtained from fishing tends to decrease.
Common waters that can be utilized for aquaculture and has not been cultivated maximally by the community one of them is the river. River water is affected by tidal sea water and rainfall, so the waters tend to be fresh and brackish. In addition to the cultivation of floating cages or in floating net cages, aquaculture in the river can also be done with a net cage.
The location exposed in the picture above is one of the business locations of fishermen in the regency of Lhokseumawe.
