The heat and humidity are rising here in Dixie, and so are the anger and hatred for others. I am exhausted from it. I do not think I have ever seen so much open hostility and anger, no, hatred for others in my entire life here. Old white women becoming enraged when they notice the lone black person shopping and minding their own business. White men openly making jokes about Hispanics while in a Mexican restaurant and mocking the server's accent. Complaining that "liberals" are the cause of all their problems like inflation from Trump's economic approach. Then you have the anger and rage - intentionally running into people in stores, breaking in line, screaming if they don't get their way, throwing merchandise on the floor. Even children do not behave this way. I do not understand. They got their Golden Calf and he is doing their bidding, but they are becoming angrier and more aggressive. I could see another Red Summer coming if the propaganda and "God sanctioned" hatred for non-whites and non-evangelical christians escalates along with inflation and heat here in the South. This has become a very ugly place and I am afraid violence towards "others" is about to erupt. I doubt I will leave the safety of my community and go out in public this summer if what I have seen over the last three days is an indication of what Making America Great is all about.
