For this week’s challenge, the focus is on the Scavenger ability whereby you gain 1 max health each time any monster dies. I really like this ability, but it can be quite situational as you will see from my battle below.
Featured Card – Gelatinous Cube
This is a rental card (big card rental fan here) and it is a Lvl 6 neutral. However, as my Summoner level isn’t high enough, he was only a Lvl 3 in the battle.
The Battle
Ruleset : Stampede and Noxious Fumes
Noxious Fumes is the main reason why I used the Gelatinous Cube in the first place as my strategy was to just outlast the opponent. Stacked a few low health cards that would die on after round one to buff up Gelatinous Cube’s health. I also had a few damage dealers with 4 health so that they will be able to survive the first battle.
After the poison damage occurred as the start of round 2, it was a 3v2 in my favour, however one of my ranged cards would not be able to attack as it is in the first position.
Round 3 was just Gelatinous Cube versus two magic cards, so no chance of them missing their hits. But I still had 12 HP left on mine and the opponent only had 2 turns left in them till the poison took them out. Doing some simple math (12-2-2-2-2) I knew I was able to outlast them. Took another 2 rounds and in the end, my Gelatinous Cube still had 5 HP left.
Final thoughts
Scavengers like Gelatinous Cube have a great utility as a secondary tank or in situations whereby there is DOT (Damage over time). Sadly, this strategy does not always work for me as I encountered someone who had the Cleanse ability and Tank heal ability in their lineup. Still good fun and always something new to learn.
Anyone uses Gelatinous Cube in a similar way as I realised it is not as common. I have probably only encountered something similar once in every 5 battles?
