Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle and other outlets have opened up a lot of doors for users to discover new indie games: those games not published by the major gaming companies (Konami, Capcom, Square Enix etc).

Indie games take you off of the beaten path as they explore new themes and experimental mechanics that the major developers might not want to take the chance on experimenting with.

In addition to new gameplay mechanics, themes, and touching narratives, many indie games also offer something else major: excellent soundtracks, especially if you're into mellow/chiptune music.

Here are some solid (IMO) soundtracks that I've discovered over the years, and links to the games that they're attached to. Some of these soundtracks come from the same indie developers, so I broke it into sections where it made sense.

Askiisoft:

Supergiant Games:

Misc developers:

Honorable mention: Glass Fish Rhythm: soundtrack not centralized :(

Bonus music (non-soundtrack): Side Brain - 8 Buttons - YouTube

Have soundtrack suggestions? Put them in the comments! I'm sure we'd all dig finding a new indie game soundtrack!
