When Gladiator cards first came out, the only way to earn them was to participate in brawls. This was to encourage people to join guilds. Now though you can earn merits in other ways which makes them less elite. I think the whole purpose of gladiator cards though is that you have to earn them. you can't rock up with a stack and buy a maxed Quora for example.
