What is going on with the wallet?

So, just a few minutes ago I log in and check my feed, and then go tonhow empty my wallet is, and get redirected to a different website...

Steemitwallet.com! Are you kidding me? I have to logon to a whole different domain and website, just to use my wallet.

I haven't seen any announcement, or pinned post like a few months ago. Is this even safe, of has steemit.com been hacked?

I guess I'll have to use other means to manage zero balance wallet until I find out.

Anyone in the know, please enlighten me. I don't see the point of not having access the wallet where it was.

Update: Well it seems there is an announcement on @steemitblog. Would have been nice to pin it up on the feeds like last time there was a big announcement.
