The Day Pillar is what truly defines the individual, as it's the day they were born and the day is the accumulation of creation for that individual...hence they find themselves on their day of birth to be their most significant day on all aspects of their life.
The Day Pillar is the Crux of the entire BaZi chart.
Jin Brave-Smoke was born under the Geng (Heavenly Stem is the outer shell/mold/template) yet the hidden energies/mechanics of the Geng Year of 1990 was met with yang fire that is Wu (Earthly branch is the internal mechanics/energetics has a direct relationship with the Heavenly Stem outer template). The other pillars (month, day and hour) are also important, forming combinations alongside the yearly pillar.
But what of Jin Brave-Smoke's Day? I find myself born under the Heavenly Stem of Yin Fire aka "Ding" and the Earthly branch of Yin Metal aka "Yoh/You".
Does Heaven define the Man, or does Man overcome so called Destiny? These are the mysteries of my life.
Hence i give myself a new name, according to the traditional Chinese naming conventions of stylized/courtesy names. I have many names, all a signifying a certain time in my life. My childhood; my initiation into the Liu Ren Divine Arts lineage; the name "Jin" that was gifted to me by my very first internet friend, whom i met in person after 20 years; my Daoist name that i received when i traversed Mt Wudang with my Father during his initiating into the Wu Dang Divine Arts; my title "Vagabond Showman" during my time in the world of Magicians; "The Sojourner" during my nomadic decade. Out of all the names, i dearly wish to hear my true name, but i have not heard that name called out to me in more than 20 years.
Today I give myself the name 熒 meaning "a glimmer / glimmering / twinkling / fluorescence / phosphorescence / perplexed / dazzled and confused / planet Mars/Aries/Geng Wu/1990. In the modern dictionary it means "Flickering Light"/"Dim Light". It resonates with my favourite Yi hexagram #36.
Spoken in Cantonese it has the same sound as the word for "Stylish", but of course not the same word.
