Day 6 of the steemhop leaderboard grind and I told myself today is the day I finally crack TOP 52. Opened http://steemhop.org and my coins were sitting at 57 from yesterday so I was already motivated. First 10 runs were trash like usual. Died at -1, died at 0, even died at 2 because I got greedy on the train tracks. The orange desert map was the same with the little bunny and the purple and red cars flying everywhere. I kept staring at that āTOP 52ā on the top left and it was annoying me because day 5 I hit 32 and I was so close. I also went to the character screen today and noticed something. The first one is the default character, pure white with the little chicken/red comb and thatās the free one everyone starts with. Then thereās a yellow one in the middle and a grey one. The yellow one costs 1000 of the yellow coins. Bro I only have 58 coins right now so thatās nowhere close. I was thinking maybe a different character is more efficient or faster but I canāt even afford it yet. So Iām stuck with the default chicken for now.
Then something clicked around my 15th run. I stopped rushing and started waiting for the gaps. Got to 15, then 19, and I could feel my hands getting warm. The best run of the day came when I hit 19 again and I was actually collecting coins too, pushed my total up to 58. I was dodging trains, timing the purple cars, and not panicking when 3 lanes came at once. Died at 19 but that tied my consistency from yesterday. After that I had a run where I got to 9, then 5, then back to 0 because I spawned and immediately hopped into traffic. Steemhop will humble you fast. But I kept going because I knew if I hit one good run I could get on the board. Every coin matters now because I need 1000 for that yellow character and at this rate itās gonna take forever.
The second half of day 6 was just grinding and grinding. I mustāve seen the STEEM HOP logo like 40 times. Had runs where I died at 1 and 2 and I was getting frustrated. Then I got a clean run to 17. I cleared multiple car lanes, waited on the tracks, and made it past the desert rocks without dying. Coins went up to 58 again so Iām still 942 away from the yellow one. That run felt good because I wasnāt even trying to go for coins, I was just focused on survival. The cars get faster the higher you go so at 15+ itās actually sweaty. My thumbs were hurting but I didnāt stop. Every time I died I just hit play again because day 6 canāt be like day 5. I keep wondering if the paid characters have better hitboxes or speed but I guess Iāll find out when I finally save up.
Ended day 6 with my high score still at 19 and 58 coins total. Didnāt beat my 32 from yesterday which is annoying but I was way more consistent today. No more dying at -1 every other run. Iām still not on TOP 52 but I can feel it coming. Also now I have a new goal, save up 1000 coins for that yellow character because the default white chicken is cool but if thereās something better I want it. For day 7 Iām aiming for 35+ and actually getting my name up there. If I keep playing patient and stop doing dumb hops I know I can do it. Day 6 done, streak alive, 58 coins in the bank, and the grind continues until I see myself on that leaderboard and unlock a new character šŖ
