Ottima difesa.

(The 6 Videogames’ list that taken me time) :-)
In the first "episode" I told you about my first ever game Wonder Boy!
In this post I'll tell you about the second.
We are in the early 90s the game in question is Alpha Mission 2, not as famous as Wonder Boy among my peers, perhaps unknown to the younger ones.
I used to play at the bar "Mede", small curiosity bar that still exists :-).
I remember my parents sending me to catechism and I as a brat I was, as soon as they left I ran away to the bar, which was just above the meeting room of catechism, to play this game! 200 Lire, which I stole from my grandmother:-), for game.
Alpha Mission 2, the sequel to "Alpha Mission 1" made in 1985 but I got lost because I played Wonder Boy :-), is very different from my first Videogames.
Made in 1991 by SNK, this game is one shoots all scrolling.
A spacecraft or two since you could do as the "double" (Multiplayer) was said in the jargon, had to shoot all the dangerous waves of "monsters" that met in the air but also on the ground, to defend the various space stations. Avoiding all sorts of attacks and collecting stronger and stronger upgrades.
This, like almost all games, included various levels of difficulty and final Boss to defeat, but the peculiarity was that during the fights you had the chance tto find appendages for your ship to upgrade it.
To achieve the full upgrade you had to collect 3 appendages of the same type, for example I remember that there was the Homing armor that allowed to fire missiles on the surface then in itself useless against enemies of air... In extremis I used it as a defense anyway, in fact each "armor" had an energy bar that was consumed when taking shots, while on others it was consumed when you fired.
There were 11 types of armor:
1.Laser: which increased the power of lasers, but useless against ground enemies. Super LASER :) Special Weapon
2.Homing: Fires self-guided missiles at ground enemies.
3.Bubble: instead of lasers, it fired very destructive bubbles.
4.Side: self-guided external laser armor, useful in mixtures.
5.Phoenix: It creates a Phoenix of fire around the ship defending it but also doing very badly to the bad guys in the area.
6.Fire: it has no lasers but flamethrowers hits in the air and on the ground.
7.Nuclear: the game's second most destructive armor. One missile but clean screen!
8.Black Hole: powerful armor that fired black holes, any monster in contact with them would leave us life
9.Shield: Good defense.
10:Shotgun: to shoot waves of energy.
11.Thunder: The armored Ferrari took the ship to the center, causing an electrical storm that demolished everything on the screen.
There were also letters in the game that, if taken, gave upgrades to the basic scare ship like the L to boost the Lasers and M to upgrade the Missiles, there were also The G's that needed to get points to buy armor.
What endless days at the bar. I remember with 200 lire I could play all day.
Every time I got to the end of the levels, the video game started all over again, endlessly or almost...until Mr. Mede, the bartender, didn't come to turn off the game because of the rows I created :)
Once a year I play again, smile here smile over there, then close: too incapable now:).
Good memories!
