Hello, weekend! I am always looking forward to the weekend as it is the time of the week when I get to relax and spend time with family or friends.
My sister-in-law paid me a visit in my home when she had her vacation here in Leyte. She lives in Baybay City, Leyte, not very far which only took her about an hour to travel. She is one of my closest sisters-in-law since when she was younger we were able to bond together before she left for Cebu to study and work. She's such a warm and welcoming person and very easy to talk to. That may be the reason why I got closer to her. I easily connect with talkative people. 馃槃
To make our bonding a little special and worthwhile, I took her to a kan-anan (restaurant) for lunch where we could share updates on what had been going on with my life and her life over sumptuous food.
We went to Kan-anan sa Superball in Matalom, Leyte. This place used to be a port for the popular Canigao Island but when the Local Government Unit (LGU) took over the management of the Island, the private port was disallowed to operate so instead they converted the place into a restaurant.
We came earlier, an hour and 30 minutes before lunch. The kan-anan is made of native materials such as bamboo flooring, amakan walls, and nipa for roofings. Since this was a port before, they made cottages on the side of the platform where customers stay and eat instead of tables and chairs in a big room.
We chose the cottage and ordered our food. While waiting for the food to be served, we had our time together talking about life and future plans. We also took picture of each other as memorabilia of our time spent togther. It is not everyday that we can bond like this alone together. She's such a sweet lady to always to think of me and the people she cared about and always made sure she could spend time with us.
Finally, our food was served. We only ordered a few dishes since it was just the two of us and we may end up not finishing our food. The kan-anan serves favorite Filipino dishes like sinigang and my favorite seafoods.
These were the food that we ordered.
The food was good. We were full and finished our food fast. Since there weren't so many customers, we stayed for another hour. We chatted just about anything. That's how we were. When can talk to each other all day long. There were no dull moments as she was very fun to talk with. We also love the moment by the sea.
After about an hour of istamby (standby) and chitchat, we finally decided to leave. We took more photos before we left. The weather is great and the sea looks calm, we couldn't miss the chance of having beautiful photos.
Her visit made me realize that giving quality time to the people we love is a choice and something that we should work on. Our schedules may be hectic but if we truly value the people we love, we can always find time and we can always find ways to connect and spend time together. As that famous Pinoy quote says:
" Pag ayaw may dahilan, pag gusto palaging mayroong paraan."
