It's a long weekend here in the country but unfortunately, I haven't planned any travels. The last week was quite hectic and when things were done, all I could think of is to get some rest in the weekend.
Haven't planned any travels, but having the hubby home for the barangay elections, I couldn't miss the opportunity to have somebody to drag around wherever my wanderlust cells could take me, lol!
After we casted our votes, our feet lead us to a familiar trail towards a popular tourist attraction in town, the Hindang Nature Park.
Our eyes met with lush grasses and towering coconut trees as we started ou hike.
It has been years since our last walk here considering this place is located in our barangay and going up to Nature Park is perfect for jogging or hiking.
Nothing much has changed. We saw the same houses as before, though some of them has been improved and renovated. Not much economic activities are created which I find it a good thing to preserve the pristine landscape of the area.
There's a cluster of these houses made of the same materials and of the same sizes which caught my attention. These are typical houses in the country especially in the rural areas.
The harder part of the hike is this uphill part of the entire path. Maybe the most striking improvement we saw so far is having this area cemented making going up easier for hikers and for vehicles.
Along the path are blossoming grasses painting the way with colors of nature.
The striking stripes of orange and yellow seems to mimic a ray of sunshine that warms the heart.
How elegant this wild beauty is, adorned with the lush leaves of a climbing vine. This flower is like a lovely lady in its most natural beauty, anybody cannot afford to not notice.
As we stepped out of the cemented path, a signage prompted us of how farther we had to walk to arrive at the spot, the Hindang Nature Park. It isn't too far away from here.
From towering coconut trees to a sight of lush young Mahogany trees perfectly aligned at the roadside like guards paving the way for the king and queen, lol! 馃槃
The tree cannopies provided us shade from the heat of the sun and the walk along this path is a breath of brisk forest air that soothes and cleanses every airsacs of our lungs. What a treat!
This barren hill carpeted with green and gold grass leaves is a sight to behold. A perfect spot to stop for a while and recharge by grounding on its downy grass under your feet. And the surrounding view of mountains and verdant landscapes is giving me that ethereal feel.
We stopped for a while, couldn't resist the temptation to take some photos of us in this spot.
I am not a pose savvy and posing for photo felt awkward as seen in my body language, lol!
To the other side of the road, opposite to this barren hill is a scenery that give me that "let's get lost into the jungle" vibe. I was smitten.
A few more meters to go and we'll be at the site and yet there were more enchanting scenery to wallow.
Every curved path has its own charm with every cannopies change.
I directed my eyes to the view of the sky and noticed the dark movement of clouds, warning us of an impending downpour but we were too immersed with the beauty that surrounded us that we didn't mind it.
Oh, isn't this scene just like in the movies? Imagine a scene where you are lost in the jungle tired and all sweaty and a small hut pops out in the scene. Exhilirating, right? LOL!
Finally we arrived at the spot. We were welcomed with the presence of wild monkeys that made me jump to my hubby's arms. Though these monkeys are used to people around and seem harmless and cute, I couldn't put my guard down.
Welcome to Hindang Nature Park!
But for this post, my focus is our #WednesdayWalk and how it went so I think I need a separate blog for the nature trip.
Well, this walk didn't end without a twist. The exciting part was yet to unfold like how the dark clouds suddenly appears covering the blue sky hinting an unexpected plot twist.
Remember the dark clouds I mentioned earlier? They weren't just there to stay, they fell off the sky as heavy rains to drenched our unsuspecting souls. Philippine weather is so unpredictable. At a moment it was all sunny but a few moments later, it rained. How cool is that? Or is it?, Lol!
Right before we could go out of the Nature Park, it rained heavily and we're soaked. We found shelter at the entrance of the park and waited for few minutes for the rain to ease off before we go down the same path back home.
When the heavy rain subsided we decided to walk back home. There were still drizzles but we believed that it was it. It won't rain harder anymore.
The ground was damped. Luckily there weren't many tourist and vehicles passing that would cause the ground to soften, become muddy and hard to trek.
Drenched, we took a selfie. Reminds us that life can be fun with a h潭e潭a潭v潭y潭 little rain.
This spot again with the dark clouds on the background.
A few moments later on our way, a heavy downpour leave us no choice but to walk in the rain. But surprisingly, for me, it was the best part of this #WednesdayWalk journey. As the rainwater runs through my face, I feel a spritual connection. Something, I haven't felt for a long time. It was a surreal feeling!
The husband worried about his sling bag. It's not waterproof and he worried that his things were getting soaked. The only practical solution we had at the moment was to use banana leaves to protect our things from the rain.
He took two banana leaves and covered ourselves with it. Now, how could I not feel that "kilig" feeling again, lol! This scene seems familiar. Somewhat similar in dramas I watched but of a low cost production, hahah! Maybe you have seen this scene where a man covers her lady from the rain, it never fails to send butterflies in my stomach. My heart fluttered at the moment. 馃槏 What a delightul way to keep the fire burning in a relationship. Haha!
This rain-drenching walk ended with a warm dip in the sea. We expected that the seawater would be cold but suprisingly it was warm enough to neutralize the cold feeling from being soaked in the rain. It was so soothing and satisfying.
Now, this experience is a testament that really most unplanned walks or travels leaves a more lasting impression and unexpected delightful experiences.
Have great Wednesday!
