In last week's walk report I told about the "beaten path", which is about the repetitive walks through the same places. Trying to make the point that although the walks are through the same places, the stories about those walks are different. These stories are different both because each time we turn our attention to other goals or because our spiritual state is changed...

In this sense is the story of a painter, maybe famous, but now I don't know who said that, to be super accurate.

A painter is in the middle of nature painting a beautiful sunset. Because it got dark quickly, he couldn't finish the painting and decided to come back the next evening to complete it. So he did, the weather was gorgeous, the sunset the same, everything looked exactly like the day before. He wanted to continue painting the picture and he couldn't, he packed everything up and went back to the studio.
There, his friends asked him why he didn't continue painting because everything was identical to the day he had started painting. He answered only that: I wasn't the same!

Well, what did the narrator, i.e. me, want to convey with this introduction? I wanted to say that today I will talk about another walk, abandoning for a while my repeated walks through Herastrau Park in Bucharest. Today I will tell you about last Sunday's walk through the Mogosoaia Palace Park near Bucharest. It was such a long walk that I started telling about it yesterday in this post: I don't know about others.... For those who want to know more about this palace, they will find in this post more references to the history of this place and about the life and fate of the owner, the Wallachian prince Constantin Brancoveanu.

Walkthrough the prince's garden

On Sunday I received a visit from a good friend and because I wanted to impress her with a special place, very close to our home, I invited her for a walk through the garden of Mogosoaia Palace, a beautiful architectural and historical ensemble. Mogosoaia Palace was the residence of the Wallachian prince Constantin Brancoveanu who ruled the Romanian Country at the end of the seventeenth century. The buildings, gardens, and lake that form this now tourist complex are a perfect place for visiting and walking. Even for relaxation, for those who want it.

Like the vast majority of you, I am a walk lover, I am a walker for the sake of walking but also for health reasons. I've reached the age where if I don't exercise as regularly as possible then my bones start to creak. Moreover, just like with children, I like reward walks too. When I chose this walk I knew well what the reward would be. The lunch on the little terrace at the entrance to the garden.

img_7216.jpg

img_7217.jpg

img_7219.jpg

From here the walk starts, the route is circular, like a boomerang. The boomerang will return to the terrace. At first, I walk past the lake, the water has always attracted me.

img_7227.jpg

img_7230.jpg

The lake is not wide but it is long, it can be likened to a river. In fact, it was a river that was transformed into several lakes by building successive dams.

img_7330.jpg

On the opposite bank of the park are built a lot of holiday homes. People with a lot of money, businessmen, politicians, celebrities, gangsters... a few honest people.

img_7299.jpg

It was one of the first real days of spring. A beauty of a day. We searched the woods for the flowers that first appear and herald spring.

img_7250.jpg

img_7248.jpg

img_7257.jpg

Long deserted alleys, just the place for walking and stories, memories, and plans for the future.

img_7290.jpg

The joy of cyclists of all ages!

img_7291.jpg

Passing the small forest, among the trees and bushes we can see the clearing and the buildings in the middle of the park.

img_7288.jpg

img_7289.jpg

The walk is quite messy but still with a sure goal. The palace and the buildings near it. But before we get there I take my companions to show them something in a tree.

img_7338.jpg

In a certain tree, only in that one, and I don't know why that is, I can see owls. It's the tree where they stay during the day. They are night birds, so they hunt and during the day they stay hidden in the trees.

img_7341.jpg

img_7341_1_.jpg

Years ago I saw dozens of birds in this pine, now I only see one. An owl saw us approaching but completely ignored us. Behind the tree is the Mogosoaia Palace!

img_7346.jpg

Mogosoaia Palace has a specific Romanian architecture, but of course, with many influences from the European architecture of the time and because it had to be called something, it was called Brancovenesc architectural style.

img_7348.jpg

img_7349.jpg

img_7358.jpg

It is specific to this Brancovenian architecture the way the bricks are walled, with a thick layer of white plaster between them and thus making a drawing on the walls.

This can also be seen in the building called Cuhnia, which used to be the palace kitchen and is now a small exhibition hall.

img_7376.jpg

img_7383.jpg

img_7384.jpg

img_7392.jpg

img_7393.jpg

I tried to look through the window to see what kind of exhibit was there. I don't know why it wasn't open.

img_7388.jpg

img_7391.jpg

In the inner courtyard of the palace, I saw for the first time in my life an exhibition of... outdoor poetry. Actually a mix of poetry and painting... actually an attempt to promote a poet. A poet totally unknown to me, but that doesn't mean much because I don't read poetry, especially contemporary poetry.

img_7374.jpg

img_7377.jpg

img_7379.jpg

Very interesting, this exhibition was a surprise for us. After reading a few poems we found that art stimulates hunger! Thinking of the terrace at the other end of the park, we rushed to the palace courtyard. We saw more...

Entrance gate and guard tower.

img_7375.jpg

img_7380.jpg

The old church of the estate, was built-in 1688.

img_7365.jpg

img_7366.jpg

We left the field stepping on an old path formed by millstones.

img_7387.jpg

img_7396.jpg

img_7402.jpg

If the first part of the walk, to the palace, was easy, at leisure, we chatted, the second part, the distance from the palace to the terrace that will end our hunger was quickly covered. A few fleeting glances at the other visitors, each to their own agenda.

img_7564.jpg

img_7567.jpg

Of course, there were a few more stops, because temptations are everywhere and my companions are always the first victims in such situations.

img_7575.jpg

We reached the big driveway, in front of us, in the distance, is the salvation from starvation.

img_7578.jpg

img_7582.jpg

It's over. No more hunger, no more walking. I chose to be discreet and not put what I ate.

img_7583.jpg

Leaving the park, from the palace grounds and looking for the car, in the makeshift car park next to the park fence.

img_7584.jpg

img_7586.jpg

It was a great walk, reminded me of vacation. I omitted to tell a lot of the story because it would have been too long. As I have become accustomed to, actually dswigle@dswigle's influence and her desire to be #alwaysaflower will be a flower. Some spring flowers grown in a millstone.
