Weekend experiences, weekend events, weekend memories... all from the weekend, of course. I try to make a modest contribution to this suggestion to write, in the WEEKEND EXPERIENCES community. Suggestions or help to overcome the lack of imagination in finding a topic for a post. These suggestions, coming from @galenkp, are the following:
One weekend photo and 250 words
International weekend
The last post
The food you
If somehow you find these topics appealing and you have the desire to write something, here you find all the necessary details, [Week 117] Weekend-Engagement concept.
For my first participation in these "experiments", I have to choose from four proposals. The easiest for me would be: International weekend, because it's basically a travel story garnished with lots of photos and that's what I experienced at; The last post, because I'm a pessimistic nature, and things that end, including life, can easily be treated on this pessimistic note.
The food you is an exciting proposal with reference to our artistic side but I'm not ready now because I don't have enough ingredients to make an acceptable work.
I chose One weekend photo and 250 words although I consider it the hardest for me, who has been posting a lot of photos for years, I don't think I can find a post of mine with less than 10 photos. I've always relied on photos to cover for my lack of writing talent and inspiration (as well as the poor English I'm ashamed to admit I possess).
Well, I thought it was hard to write 250 words without a photo, but I already did, even before I started the story!
We have seen that people, especially after the restrictions of the last pandemic, are crazy about traveling! This summer the capacity of airports has been exceeded to process such a large number of people eager to get as far away from home as possible as if everyone is afraid of losing their last chance. This is even after the war in Ukraine has started, this is even after the likelihood of a wider war, both in Europe and Asia, becomes more and more real.
This wanderlust has taken hold of me and the impossibility of going abroad made me choose to spend a weekend in one of the most touristic cities in my country, Romania, namely Sibiu! A city that I visited several times but where I never stayed for more than a day. Now I've given myself a whole weekend!
I like to visit cities, towns, and villages, big or small, and to walk around and find something I like, from the architecture of the buildings to the food specific to the place. I like to walk from morning to evening in places that are new to me.
Until recently I thought that walking is what I like most, but after some thought and more attention, I realized that another is my great pleasure and interest in traveling...
Looking at the people!
Looking at the people in Sibiu. Somewhere up on a terrace, looking down on the people below...
Sibiu is one of the oldest cities in Romania, located in Transylvania. It was built and inhabited by German settlers. The Old Town consists of the Upper Town (where I was seeing what you see now in the photo) and the Lower Town, which is what I was looking at. In the Upper Town is the administrative part, big squares and cathedrals, and educational establishments and in the lower city are the people's houses. Old houses, some built since 1200 and still inhabited, many others repaired and restored and have all the comforts of the century we live in now.
I had to say something about Sibiu, didn't I? Now let's move on to the personal pleasures satisfied in Sibiu, namely the habit and pleasure of people-watching. From analyzing how they look, how they are dressed, and how they behave to the more subtle areas, namely imagining what kind of problems they have, what they like, and if they enjoy where they are!
Standing up and looking down... I saw the little cafe. A simple caf茅, a few tables set in the middle of the narrow, slightly sloping street, a cobbled street as it was in the Middle Ages. The Old Town is full of such rudimentary cafes, where there is a small room where coffee is brewed and a few tables were thrown here and there. The cafe in the photo is one of my favorites (visually, because I've never had coffee there).
Standing up and looking down... I looked for a long time at the two young people sitting at a table with coffee and cigarettes, the girl with a puppy in her arms and talking, like what else can you do over coffee?
Standing up and looking down, also over coffee, I would have liked to know if the two young people were locals (maybe they even worked at the cafe) or tourists, if they were a couple or just friends, or if they met just then. I didn't know any of this but it allowed me to make all sorts of assumptions and scenarios, to try to come up with a few different stories about the two of them and the dog between them.
I could go on and on with these stories and guesses of mine but that would be too much. I think I have completed this attempt at writing without the aid of photographs. I understand once again how much my photos help me in what I want to write. Because if I write without visual evidence of photographs, the result is a flat and boring narrative...
I think this is my first post with only one photo. In this short story about the trip to Sibiu, I would have put more photos that would have shown what I don't know how to describe.
If anyone is interested in seeing more of Sibiu, I leave the link to several posts that relate to this trip. Posts older than a week, so obviously I'm not doing this for upvotes.
