A short-tempered man is a fool. It's in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 7:9 KJV "Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools." It's in the Bible, Proverbs 19:11 KJV "The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. This is to his credit." It's in the Bible, Proverbs 16:32 KJV. "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city."

Get over anger quickly. It's in the Bible, Ephesians 4:26-27 KJV
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: [27] Neither give place to the devil."

What does Jesus warn about anger? It's in the Bible, Matthew 5:22, NKJV. " But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire."

How does God relate to anger? It's in the Bible, Psalm 103:8 KJV "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy."

How does Love relate to anger? It's in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:5 KJV "Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil"

Don't fight back when wronged. It's in the Bible, 1 peter 3:9 KJV "Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing."

Anger produces strife. It's in the Bible, Proverbs 30:33 KJV "Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife."

How should we react to someone's anger? It's in the Bible, Proverbs 15:1 KJV "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."

Why do we forgive, rather than continue to be angry? Because God forgave us. It's in the Bible, Ephesians 4:30-32, NKJV. " And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."

TODAY'S PRAYER
Loving Lord I place that anger and bitterness that I too often harbour in my heart at Your feet and pray that in Your grace You will expose all that is causing the bitter poison that is lodged within my heart to surface so often - and set me free from it, I pray.
Lord I confess all my anger and bitterness and know that when I allow this to surface in my heart it breaks the fellowship we have together. I know that when I confess my anger You are faithful and just to forgive the outbursts of anger in my heart and to cleanse me of all unrighteousness, for which I praise Your name. But Lord I desire that I am set free from this pollution within my heart so that the root of anger shrives us within - and ask You to examine me and root out all that is not pleasing in Your sight
