Guess who just got back today
Them wild-eyed boys that had been away
Haven't changed that much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy
6 of us, finally, after three years of trying to make it happen!
For 3 years, the six of us, friends since before high school, having been trying to make it a good reason to get together. During high school, the 6 of us were together most nights, in two's, three's, and more often than not, all six.
Lately, the only time we've been together, has been for funerals. Not a great thing for good times. sure, we'd laugh a bit, but usually, on those occasions, it would be a brief hour or two, snatched for a hellooo, and quick catch up. One of us was tied up with family and mourning for a lost loved one. So, last time, we made a pact, and have been planning a weekend away, only the boys.
Finally, after fits and starts, we made a solid date, and kept to it.
One from Chicago, two of us, from outside of Boston, one from Atlanta, one from Connecticut, and one from LA.
We arrived, in dribs... one on Wednesday, one Thursday, two Friday, one after midnight, into Saturday and final, at breakfast Saturday. Our weekend was at last, here.
Time for some noise....
Just down the street from the beach house, was a little dive bar, filled with 50 somethings, and locals, all enjoying a 50 year old cover band. Still, a night out is a night out! But, we needed to cut our night short, for the big Lobster dinner!
Lobster, lobster, where's the crusty crustacean at?!
Seems we spent so much time enjoying ourselves, the store was out of Lobsters, by the time we went to go get them for our dinner!
I'm not getting in to much of the conversation, maybe some broad brush strokes. We covered the usual: "Have you heard from...?"
"oh, did you hear, so and so passes away...?"
"I heard so and so is married/divorced/sick"
About what you expect... we a mini reunion happens.
We did spend an absurd time reminiscing, looking at some old photo albums, and of course, grilling each other mercilously. We caught on each others' families, jobs, and life.
We also spent most of the weekend, mired in sarcasm, and explaining why who ever was cooking/talking/mixing a drink/ generally breathing, was doing it wrong.
I haven't laughed that hard in a decades. It's amazing how good the boys are!
The boys are back in town!
