Hardening OFF Seedlings!

We all LOVE our plants, and often start many from seed. When we do, we give them care, and light and tend to them... but, Many make a simple mistake! You have to CAREFULLY Transition Seedlings outdoors, otherwise, you may be killing them! My gardens are in New England, zone 6b/7a.

Seedlings, grown indoors, even with the most impressive grow lights, simply are NOT used to the Sunlight and Wind of the outdoor world. Seedlings are tender and can easily be sunburned, and scalding by too much sunlight... similar to our own sunburns, first time on the beach.

Hardening off is the process of getting your seedlings acclimatized to the sun, breezes and outdoors.

Most of you know, I prefer locally grown food. It's healthier for my family, and for the planet. In fact, I prefer to grow my own food. I know what goes into my foods, and what chemicals are NOT in my food. Also, It cuts down on carbon emissions, less trucking to get fresh foods to my table.
