In this post we will examine the effectiveness of the time mage. This is one of my favorite cards to use now that it is level 3 for me as the two magic is great on offense and the slow ability is great for defensive purposes. Let us take a look at the card first and then we will break down a battle where the time mage was a key contributor.

Time Mage

This card fits perfectly with the Life team as the heavy damage archers tend to be fairly slow. The Time Mage evens the matchup by slowing down your opponent allowing your archers to have a better chance at hitting each time as well making them go before your opponent in some cases. The one magic damage is nice but this card really steps it up after reaching level 3 and gaining an extra magic attack. It can no longer be nerfed by void as easily as can assist on offense rather than just providing the slow ability. I would love to get this card playable at level 5 where it gets rust as shields are the arch nemesis of the archers and waste heavy damage most of the time. This is especially true when going against Kelya.

Now we will breakdown a battle where the time mage was incredibly effective and allowed me to easily blast away my opponent. Here is the link to the full battle:

Round 1

Even before the action starts you can see my opponent’s monsters are all at level one while my monsters are all three speed or more. This gives me at least a 20% dodge chance. I love playing the time mage to slow my opponent while also adding quix to slow them further and my supply runner to speed my team up. Very dangerous combo in silver.
As round 1 plays out, my team was able to attack before any of his monsters could attack. This allowed me to eliminate my opponent’s shieldbearer without any of the healing monsters getting a chance to heal him up. I get one miss from his prismologist which keeps my djinn renova alive for another round. Thank you time mage.

Round 2

In this round, I am able to take out his secondary tank as well as one of his healers. I had just enough damage to make his sandworm drop into the first position for my shield bearer to take out. At this point, it is all over.

Round 3

My monsters finish off his last few easily and I leave the battle with none of my monsters going down. The power of this combo is pretty great especially in a blast matchup where speed is so important.
