This is an entry for the Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Splinterlands is a blockchain based game that rewards you with NFT's and cryptocurrency just for playing. In this post, we will look at a General Sloan strategy I have done well with in the silver league. With the new modern league split, there will be more players in silver overall I believe and so the bronze league strategies may be less useful. The strategy we will review I think is one of the lowest cost strategies you can use to climb silver and use from silver 3 to silver 1.
Cards
- Pelacor Conjurer level 4 ($0.77)
- Dax Paragon level 2 ($4.90)
- Time Mage level 3 ($5.04)
Total: $10.71
Pelacor Conjurer
At level 4, this card gains magic reflect which makes it the perfect tank against any opponent. The high speed and flying make it a high dodge chance against melee and the magic reflect obviously creates value against magic spam. With five health, there is some relative resiliency with this card and using with dax as well as venari crystasmith allows it to deal heavy damage while also staying alive through round 2.
Dax Paragon Level 2
This card is severely underrated in my opinion. Magic damage at 2 mana is great and then adding the amplify makes this card close to OP in silver league low mana. Amplify gives the conjurer two or three magic damage per opponent depending on their attack power. I am able to kill off the earth healer in one shot using this strategy. Dax can also be paired with crystal jaguar where it has thorns at level 4 and does the same thing.
Time Mage level 3
The mage is not imperative to this strategy but makes it over the top when going against a melee or ranged heavy team. The slow makes it even tougher to hit the conjurer and the two magic damage along with dax makes for some devastating blows. The time mage can also be a nice sneak attack blocker in the back with the four speed it has.
Now that we have examined the top cards, let us look at a battle seeing how great this combo is especially in low mana games. Here is the link to the full battle https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_2190e8c61aafe1094f4a581da1733faf&ref=bluedevil0722
Here we have a 12 mana battle and evens only. The perfect set up for this magic reflect with amplify strategy. Several splinters were open but my opponent plays right into my hand by playing an obsidian team.
In round 2, I have eliminated his one magic monster with a one shot magic reflect where my opponent's magic reflect has killed neither of my damage dealers. That is the beauty of the amplify. At this point this battle is over, as I stay alive after another magic reflect and kill my opponent's last monster off with a amplified reflect of my own.
As shown above, this strategy is quite deadly in low mana matchups. Even if my opponent went a melee route, I believe the speed and 3 magic damage would have allowed me to get the win against a living lava type matchup. This strategy has been a lot of fun to play and I will continue to use it throughout the new modern format hopefully rising up the ranks to gold 3. The price above does not take into account the level 3 general sloan needed to play the monsters at their desired level. The nice thing is that general sloan is consistently the lowest cost summoner in chaos leagion.
