I really don't know where I stand on this. I stumbled across a decade-old article where the "World's oldest mother", 74 years old at that time, says giving birth to her daughter, now almost a teen, has kept her living longer because she’s determined to live to see her marry.
Then, I started doing the math (not good at it though). So okay! She was 74 years old at that time, and her daughter is 5 years old. This means, she was 69 when her daughter was born. I know all children are blessings, and I am totally against abortion, but I am not against birth control even though I haven't tried it myself.
Anyway. Doing math again. I have to think:
"What is the average life expectancy of most people?"
Eighty five (85) years old roughly? Okay, so she had her kid at 69 years old. Add 20 years, and she is 89 years old (if she lives that long).
Alright, so she is alive, but what kind of mother can she be in those 20 years? Look how old she is at 74 years old. Add 10 years to that, and you have a woman who will likely not be able to parent a child of 15 years old.
No, not being judgmental or anything like that. I don't know. I am all over the fence on this one. What do you guys think?
Is it a reasonable age to have kids or to stop having kids?
I almost forgot to note a very important fact of this case. She was inseminated "IVF" In vitro fertilization.
To all lovely single women friends here on Hive, newly married or anyone, have you ever been thinking of having a baby in the future? Well, it can strike at whatever stage of life. Assuming that you've waited until a little bit later down the road to attempt to imagine, you might contemplate whether you're too old to even think about having a child.
How old do you think is too old to have one?
To all the mothers out there who selflessly give of themselves day in and day out to care for others, salute to all of you. Your dedication and unconditional love do not go unnoticed, and the lives you have touched will never forget you. I myself know how tough it is to become one.
Today, I am grateful for the memories of my childhood days that never fail to bring a smile to my face. I am grateful for my mother, my late grandmothers, my mother-in-law (rip) and to all who have been like mothers to me. I may not say, nor express it often, but I'm truly thankful to have been blessed by having them in my life.
