Me too. War is surely the single most wasteful activity of mankind and we really need to get to a point in development of civilization as fast as possible where a few nutty idiots can't create them.

But for now, I don't see Putin backing down easily and the Ukrainians and the west won't for sure, so I would make a 50/50 bet that regime change in Russia will be the most likely way it ultimately ends.
