I'm not completely sure if I understand your idea correctly, but I think you're suggesting some way that ads could be placed of an individual author's content pages and the author would then profit from it.

But I'm not sure of what the mechanism is by which the agreement between the two parties is made, although it sounds like it's supposed to me mostly automated (maybe some weekly bidding with the winner getting the rights for that week) without requiring direct interaction by the author. The mechanism you're describing can potentially be implemented on any of the frontends now, it doesn't require any blockchain-level changes. This would somewhat match the model by which people register with google to allow adds to be run on their sites (except in the google case, the profits are paid to the site owner).

Steemit tried to monetize their ad traffic without much success. I'm not saying that it's impossible to do, but there's probably a lot of effort involved (not just on development side, but also on marketing side).

I think it's fine if someone wants to take up such a project, but I don't have enough free resources to work on anything outside the tasks I'm currently focused on.
