I'm probably not the best to give git advice, but there should be plenty of git-savvy people on Hive devs discord, at least, if you want to use discord. I'd also suggest joining the Mattermost for Hive development, that's where most of the programmers work, because it's relatively focused on development discussions and it maintains a permanent history.
