It's always amazing to me how every proposal is always assumed to be "for whales against minnows". In my opinion, this proposal has the same impacts on both classes of stakeholders.

So far, the best (unspoken) argument I've seen against the proposal is that people don't see inflation losses, but they do see curation gains. Maybe it's just best to maintain the fiction I guess.
