In an attempt to make Morty receive an "A", Rick and Morty visit his math teacher's dream. Additionally, they repeatedly enter the dreams of dream people themselves, while commenting on the movie Inception. Eventually, they are chased by Scary Terry (a parody of Freddy Krueger), but they manage to enter his dream and stand up for him against his bully scaring teacher, thus persuading Scary Terry to help them complete their mission.
Snuffles, the family dog, wears an intelligence-enhancing helmet, given by Rick on Jerry's demand. Snuffles builds a mechanical suit with a human-language translator and assembles a dog army. Rick and Morty enter Snuffles' dream, in which dogs take over Earth and Morty is Snuffles' pet. Rick causes Morty to fall into a coma, which prompts Snuffles to rethink his priorities. Once Snuffles awakes, he takes his dog army to another planet. Snuffles and Morty have a tearful goodbye.
Post-credit scene: Back in Scary Terry's class, the old teacher has been replaced by Scary Glenn, a hippie drum player. Rick and Scary Terry are sitting as his students, smoking marijuana, satisfied with this change.
