Agreed Steemit is becoming more ad-based than curation based. Even with some healthy votes from whales, we are no where near the trending page. And since we're looking for visibility we have no option

You've nailed it! And although people mainly complain about bid bots because organic curation is disappearing, they're also responsible for the lack of delegations to worthwhile projects in the STEEM

The reward is the gift of giving. If you contribute to the website your delegation is effectively increasing the rewards you'll earn for posting great deals.

We already have a deals/coupons site on the Steem Blockchain, which acts like a faucet getting Steem tokens into the hands of people who contribute to the site. The SP delegations are to fund the upvotes

It's coming and we figure this is another way people can contribute to the project. We only want SP to upvote deals, and that's exactly what following a curation trail will do too. So you are spot on!

Yes, we are going to try this route too, but looking at previous projects we aren't very hopeful. Fundition is another crowdfunding app we are investigating.
