A Big Hello to all WOO Fans! 🥳🥳🥳 WOO!
Every successful wrestling organisation needs a home. Whether it is a small independent wrestling company operating out of a modest venue or a major promotion with a spectacular arena, having the right facilities makes a difference. In WOO, this idea is now becoming part of the actual gameplay through the introduction of Promotion Buildings.
I find this particularly interesting because it gives us another progression system that is tied to something larger than our individual accounts. We are no longer just improving our own wrestlers or collecting more cards. We now have the opportunity to develop an entire organisation, starting with its headquarters and gradually expanding its capabilities through different facilities.
The building system is one of the three main components of the initial WOO Promotions rollout, alongside the Promotions themselves and Territory Wars. More importantly, these facilities are connected to one another, meaning that developing a successful organisation will require more than simply throwing WOO tokens into a treasury and hoping for the best.
Starting Small and Building Something Bigger
When a new Promotion is created, it begins with Headquarters Level 1. This gives the organisation its starting point, but naturally, there is plenty of room for improvement. The Headquarters is effectively the foundation of the entire operation because its level determines how many members and bookers the Promotion can accommodate.
The development preview gives us an idea of how this progression works. At Headquarters Level 2, the organisation can support 20 members and two bookers. Moving up to Level 3 increases that capacity to 30 members and three bookers.
I think this is a sensible progression system because it creates a natural reason for organisations to grow gradually. A newly established Promotion will not immediately have the same capacity as one that has been developing for a longer period. It also gives founders something tangible to work towards, especially if they intend to recruit more members.
There is also a strategic consideration here. A Promotion might be happy operating with a relatively small group of active players, while another might want to expand as quickly as possible. Neither approach is necessarily wrong, but the available membership capacity will influence how each organisation develops.
Personally, I would rather see a smaller Promotion with active members than a large organisation filled with people who rarely participate. More members can certainly mean more potential contributions, but activity and coordination are equally important. The building system gives organisations the capacity to expand, but it will ultimately be up to their members to make that expansion worthwhile.
Four Buildings, Four Different Purposes
The current development preview shows four main facilities: Headquarters, Booking Office, Event Operations and Production Studio. Each has a different role, and together they form the infrastructure of a growing Promotion.
The Headquarters is the central building. Besides establishing the organisation's capacity, upgrading it also unlocks additional development possibilities. This makes it one of the most important facilities because other improvements may depend on its level.
The Booking Office is particularly interesting because it directly connects building progression to Territory Wars. Its level determines which Territory War tiers the Promotion can access and how many booking slots are available. Booking Office Level 1 provides access to Tier I Territory Wars with eight booking slots. Further upgrades open additional capacity and higher tiers.
This creates an interesting relationship between development and competition. If a Promotion wants to participate at a higher level, it will need to invest in the infrastructure that makes that possible. Simply having talented wrestlers will not necessarily be enough. The organisation itself must also develop.
Event Operations provides the infrastructure for planned Promotion events and championship-related features. Although these features are not part of the initial release, having this building included in the development preview suggests that it will become relevant as the Promotions system expands.
Then there is the Production Studio, which is connected to future PPV qualification and production-related progression. This is another indication that WOO Promotions is being designed with more than just Territory Wars in mind.
I particularly like the fact that these buildings have distinct purposes rather than being four different versions of the same upgrade. It gives players something to consider when deciding how they want to develop their organisation.
It Takes More Than WOO to Upgrade
One detail that I think players should pay attention to is that building upgrades do not simply require a fixed amount of WOO. The requirements can also include Current PP, Lifetime PP milestones and prerequisite buildings.
This is important because it prevents the system from becoming purely dependent on how much currency an organisation can accumulate. A Promotion might have plenty of WOO in its treasury, but it could still be unable to upgrade a building because it has not earned enough Promotion Points or fulfilled the necessary progression requirements.
I actually like this approach. It gives members a reason to participate in the activities that generate progression rather than treating the treasury as the only thing that matters. Organisations will need to balance their financial resources with their competitive activity.
It also creates a longer-term objective. Instead of simply collecting enough WOO to purchase the next upgrade, members will have to think about how they can generate the required PP and satisfy the other conditions.
There is something satisfying about this type of progression when it is implemented properly. Each upgrade becomes an achievement that reflects the organisation's development rather than just another purchase.
Of course, we should remember that the figures shown in the announcement come from a development build. The costs, requirements and balancing may change before or after release. I would therefore avoid making firm assumptions about the final cost of upgrading every building until the live system is available.
A Reason for Members to Work Together
The building system also gives the shared treasury a clear purpose. Members can contribute WOO through on-chain transfers authorised by Hive Keychain, with the funds remaining in the Promotion treasury for construction and upgrades.
This is where the collective aspect becomes particularly important. One player might contribute a relatively small amount, while another might be able to contribute more. What matters is that the organisation is working towards the same objective.
I can see this encouraging discussions about which facility should receive priority. Should the Promotion focus on increasing its membership capacity first? Would it be better to improve the Booking Office so that it can access more Territory War opportunities? Or should members start preparing for the future event-related features by developing Event Operations and the Production Studio?
These are decisions that could make each Promotion feel different. Some organisations might prioritise competitive progression, while others may prefer to build towards the longer-term features.
I also think this gives leadership an important responsibility. Owners and bookers will need to communicate with members about the organisation's development plans. Nobody wants to contribute towards an upgrade without understanding what the organisation is trying to achieve.
Why I Think This Progression System Has Potential
For me, the building system adds something that WOO has been gradually moving towards, which is the idea that the game world should develop alongside its players.
We already have individual progression through our wrestling organisations. Now, we have another layer where the achievements of several players can contribute towards a shared structure. It is a different kind of investment, both in terms of resources and participation.
The most interesting part is that these buildings are not isolated from the rest of the game. The Booking Office connects directly to Territory Wars, while Event Operations and the Production Studio prepare the foundations for future features. This makes the development system feel like part of a larger plan rather than an unrelated collection of upgrades.
I am particularly interested in seeing how the different Promotions approach their development. Some will probably want to maximise their competitive capabilities, while others may take a more measured approach and focus on building a stable organisation first.
Whatever strategy they choose, there is now something new to work towards together. Building a wrestling empire is no longer just about collecting wrestlers. It is also about creating the organisation that supports them.
Well, that's it for today. We will continue again tomorrow! 😁 WOO! 🎉
