Hi, members of the Hive community I'm happy to be participating in the third task of the newbies initiative program. I must say it has been an interesting one, I have really learnt a lot during this short time thanks to the organizers of this wonderful and educative initiative.
As a member of the newbies initiative today,I want to talk about Hive Security.
Security is very important, everyone wants to feel safe and secure, we also want our properties to be secured too. In a place like Hive security is very important to protect your assets in the blockchain.
In this post I will be talking about Hive Keys and Account Recovery
Hive Keys
There are different Keys on Hive, this keys have their own use, all this is to ensure a smooth and safe operation of your account.
These are the different keys and their uses
MEMO KEY: This key is use to send and view private and encrypted messages. This is the least used key.
POSTING KEY: This key is used for making post,comments, upvotes, downvotes and reblog. You see that the posting key is one of the most used key in the blockchain.
ACTIVE KEY: This key is known as transaction key, it is used to power up and down Hive and for conversion of one token in the Hive blockcahin to another token.
OWNER KEY: This os known as the most powerful key, it is used to reset all the remaining keys and also used to recover account, I will show you how to use it recover account in the next session of this post.
MASTER KEY: This key is required for the recovery of all password if you have lost it. You have to know your master key on other to recover all password.
How to locate this keys
Step 1: Open your blog, locate your profile and click wallet.
Step 2: Tap on keys and permission to reveal your all your keys.
ACCOUNT RECOVERY
You have to know how to recover your account, because we cannot predict the future, you can loose your account at anytime, but thanks to the team of Hive, recovering of account has been made easy.
For of all for you to proceed with the process for recovering of your account is you must have a Trustee. A Trustee is the account that is attached to yours so that if you loose your account the Trustee can help you recover it.

Steps to follow in order to recover your account.

- Click on Recover Account
- Fill out the required information below
You will generate a new password which would give you a new Owner Key.
Send this Owner Key to your trustee
Then lastly fill the final information to finalize the recovery.
