What you do with these students is very important. These activities may seem small and meaningless to many, but they make a world of difference to the kids. A very close person to me was a teacher and then became a professor until her retirement. I watched thousands of young and old students credit her with a lot of their success and upbringing because of her close attention. Even men and women who were her students when they were kids remember her and would always come up to her when they saw her in public. It is really difficult for your students, because of the social environment, but each of these weekends add up and will make a difference in their lives. Keep it up.
