Hello lovely friends of hive. It's nice to be able to share another of my crochet pieces with you all. This is one I made for my best friend as part of her birthday gift.
She wanted to celebrate her birthday at the beach so I thought it would be nice to make a piece she can wear at the beach. It's a really easy design, it's basically made up of chains and single crochets.
First I took 5 inches out of her keep measurements and made chains that's equivalent to the 31 inches, which is what was left after I took 5 inches out. I made a total of 135 chains. I went with a number divisible by 5, which is important for this project.
Afterwards, I joined the chains making sure it wasn't twisted at any point, then I went back on the chains with half double crochet in each chain till I closed off the row.
To start with the mesh pattern, I chained 9, skipped 4 stitches and made a single crochet in the 5th stitch. Then I just repeated it till I closed off the row.
I continued with the mesh pattern for 11 rows before I separated the legs (I'd recommend 9-10 rows because the 11 rows I did ended up being too long for my friend).
To separate the legs I made a total of 20 chains and attached them in the exact middle of the front. Then I worked one part of the legs by continuing with the mesh pattern till I got the length I wanted. Then repeated the same thing on the other legs.
With that I was basically done with the mesh pants and it's just that easy to make. While mesh is easy to make it can get tiring - for me at least. I get bored after a few rows, I guess it has something to do with all the chains it requires to complete the pattern.
Here's my friend rocking her mesh pants. She loved the pants and we found a way to make it work so that the extra length at the top wasn't too obvious.
