BUTTERFLY CROCHET TOP

Hello everyone, it’s another beautiful Monday for us in the needleworkmonday community. Today I will be sharing the lovely butterfly crochet top. After I failed with the previous top I made, I decided to make something with bright colors to bring my spirit up, and for that this butterfly top was perfect as I have wanted to make it for some time but just kept putting it off.

For this top, I used a tutorial by @sheilacrochets on youtube. There are a lot of other tutorials for the butterfly top but I found hers easier to follow, usually when following one of her tutorials I do a few tweaks but for this, I did exactly how she explained. After completion I wish I had done tweaks, as usual, it was fine but had less coverage than I would have liked.

I used my favorite hook size - 3.5mm and three different colors, black, yellow, and orange. To begin this top I started with making the middle part which is the butterfly’s head, thorax, and antenna. This was the easiest part, although every other part is pretty straightforward.

Once I completed that, I started working on the wing, but I started on one side and then did the other side. Working the wings was pretty easy, I used a series of double crochets while making necessary adjustments. One thing I like about this top is the design around the edge which is worked simultaneously with the body of the top.

After finishing the upper wing, I did the lower part of the butterfly wing also for one part of the top. When that part was completed, I also went ahead to mirror the same thing on the other part. And I made the straps and the top was completed. It is a pretty easy top to make and does not require so much time.

This is what it looks like, I feel like if I had done more rows on the upper wings, it would have more coverage on the sides, but still, this is pretty okay.
