This post is directed at my guildmates in Conquests of Kibandia for ease of reference.
Hey folks,
I'd like to touch upon a couple of things regarding the news and information from today's Town Hall. I think it is imperative and an absolute must that each one of us here reads through the initial Whitepaper if you haven't done so already. I'm assuming most people here (in our project, not just the guild) have not read it yet based on the responses on Discord after today's news. Please, do yourself a favor and read it.
This brings me back to today's "announcement" regarding staked SPS earning tiers. In the Whitepaper published some years back, everything that Matt discussed today was mentioned, even if it was tweaked. In fact, the rough projected amounts back then were much higher than they actually ended up being.
Secondly, it seems there's a lot of confusion on Discord (no surprise) with lots of misinformation being thrown around by members. This is not a staking requirement. You will be able to play in any league, whether you have 0 or 1 million SPS staked. What will depend on the amount you have staked is your share of the earnings compared to everyone else's share in the same pool. Here's the deal: outside of a small percentage of whales with a mega surplus of staked SPS, most of us are going to fall short of "max rewards" according to the chart Matt shared.
While these numbers may seem high at the moment, please keep in mind that the goal is not to have everyone hit their near-max amount right now. It's to grow into it. This project requires a long-term play, in my opinion, to really realize success. We are only less than halfway through the distribution phase of SPS with a lot still in store for us. Just like your land plot is not meant to be fully maxed out from the start, but a slow and steady build toward success. I view this as the same approach.
Next, I want to touch upon the fact that while not available at launch, there will be SPS rental markets that I'm imagining will work very similarly to how it worked when renting for Collection Power in the past. You can currently rent MOST cards in the game for fractions of a penny. Even good cards are ultimately dirt cheap. I'm imagining that renting SPS will follow suit. In time, there will also be large SPS stakeholders who will delegate to players that perform well.
Lastly, I'd like to reiterate that this was all in the plans since the inception of SPS nearly 2 years ago. It's been discussed throughout that time on Discord, town halls, and other avenues like the blogs on Hive. I feel like our community simply does not pay attention to these things and then screams that the sky is falling once implemented. The information being absorbed by us as players and investors in this ecosystem has to improve. At some point, we ourselves have to be held accountable for the level of how much or little we pay attention to roadmaps, whitepapers, and overall plans for this project. On the flip side, I also feel like the team needs to have all of this vital information more easily accessible on the main site, as sadly not everyone is on Discord or utilizes the other awesome aspects (like this) of our ecosystem on Hive. Hopefully, in time, that'll happen and improve.
As of right now, I am not hitting those max tiers and thats ok. I’m going to continue to keep earning, purchasing when I can, and staking. When this gets implemented, I’ll most likely end up renting some SPS for the time being. Or I’ll see how much I’m impacted in terms of rewards earned pre and post implementation. My point is…the sky is Not falling at all but instead, I view this as a positive move forward towards a successful gaming ecosystem.
Please feel free to share your thoughts or comments below, folks! Any and all opinions welcome!!!
