One of the sections of product in our shop Conquest Comics that sees frequent action is our bargain comic books. We call them dollar boxes here and we have quite a selection. 40 short boxes full of about 125 books per box for a total of over 5000 books to be exact, and I try my best to stock them as often as possible as folks rummage daily to find treasures...or trash...I’m not judging and believe me...there are both in there.
We sell these books for a buck a piece (duh...dollar box?!?) or 12 for $10 dollars. Sometimes people come in and buy even bigger lots and we take care of them very well and they leave happy campers. I love moving dollar books as we get these things for next to nothing in collections. Which brings me to today’s score...if you want to call it that. Not going to get rich off these types of product but it’s a steady stream of cash that funnels into the shop weekly and we welcome all of those types here. Plus, it costs us next to nothing.
Like this collection right here!!!
Some dude came in with these boxes of miscellaneous nonsense and while there is nothing here worth anything at all...it’s still a solid score. It’s a random hunk of comics from Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Valiant, and all the other smaller tier publishers that vary through the years. It’s a truly odd collection as there are literally no complete mini series sets, random spotty issues that pop all over the place with no consistency, and contain books from the 80’s up until just several months back. The owner of this stuff must have just liked to read comics as a whole and not follow any particular storyline or character. Whatever. Fine by me.
There are about 1000 books here in total. Lots of strange Indy books containing Bad Girls that would make @modernzorker go from 6 to 12 at first glance. Superman, Spider-Man, Red Hood, Justice League, Iron Man and more line these boxes. Nothing of any merit but that’s cool with me as these A Listers will fly out of the bargain bin. So will some of the weird Indy stuff. We have lots of weird shoppers looking for those off the beaten path type stuff too. I’m telling ya, these boxes have something for everyone.
So I’ll spend the next couple hours going through and yanking out anything that is “worthy” of going in our back issues. It’s definitely going to be slim pickings but there will be some stuff. The rest will he chucked in the dollar boxes and the rest is history. Oh, and this collection cost us just $40 bucks. I like turning $40 into $1000. Granted it’s the slow burn but I’m okay with that.
Thx for looking!
