Ok...so I don’t think it’s ”officially” that day l...but it is at Conquest Comics! Reason being is my girl Bindi has been struggling a bit as of late. At 15 1/2 years young, I think she’s doing amazing...but it’s clear that her battle with DM is taking a bit of a toll. She has her days where her hind quarters are extremely weak like the past 48 hours. She’s actually gotten a bit stronger in the past day and is walking extremely well, but still struggles actually getting up from a laying down or sitting position.
So much so that she gets extremely whiney and anxious...so I wanted to keep a close eye on her today. Therefore...bring my pup to work. Oh, and I can’t JUST bring Bindi...so along comes Maya! I actually really enjoy having them with me at the shop. In the past I’ve brought all the pups. Sometimes just for company and to get them out of the house...others because I needed to keep an eye on them for whatever reasons.
Tano when he had his stroke for example. I brought him everyday with me for about 5 weeks. It was a ton of work but it was such an inspiration watching him progress in his walking and functions...especially since we weren’t sure he would ever walk again. He made a full recovery from that too which is awesome.
Or Bandit when he underwent his amputation from Osteosarcoma. He was such a trooper and a true inspiration.
Now, it’s onto Bindi for health reasons with her Degenerative Myelopethy. I’ll be heading straight to the Chiropractor for her first session after work today. I had a friend who’s pup has a miraculous turn when her Beagle Molly’s hind legs literally just stopped functioning. She would drag herself around and a friend recommended to her that she try the route of a Chiro. It breathed new life into Molly and added years which they didn’t think was a possibility.
I’m hoping for some good results with Bindi. Sadly with DM there is no cure. Only fending off the inevitable...but if I can add some quality time on for us...that’s money well spent. Basically I’m hoping to help with her strength and mobility. Her main issue at this moment is that she lacks the strength and power to get up half the time which causes her to panic a bit. Not fun and I hate seeing her stressed. I also like sleep which is something that’s been lacking as she whines through the wee hours of the morning the past few nights. Fingers crossed that this alongbwith a few other new things help ease her mind a bit and give her a bit of strength.
In the meantime, the gals are mingling with the droves of comic nerds entering the building today. Tons of love and rubs is what they have received throughout the day as we chat the usual comic shop banter. I cherish these days having my pack with me. I’m by far the coolest comic shop in the nation with these gals by my side.
