Howdy all!
It’s been a busy few weeks in my insignificant little existence. That combined with a sprinkle of laziness has led to a gap in posting for a bit. That sucks as I was juuuuust getting back into the swing of things. But I’m back here to right the ship. So today, I’d like to touch upon a few happenings in my world that I’d love to share with you.
On the happy front, my beautiful pup Maya turned the big 14! Maya is the last pup standing from my amazing pack of 4 monsters that I shared my life with since way back in 2003, when my boy Bandit first entered the picture. What followed was Bindi (2004), Kitano (2005), and finally Maya in 2009. Living alongside the pack has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. As I am well aware that the window here is closing, I’m trying my best to enjoy every second we have. Luckily, my baby girl is a healthy one, so I fully expect lots of great memories to still be made.
Speaking of great memories, my lovely wife was off making lots without me in Greece with her best friend for their annual girls trip. Having the house wife-free for 11 days comes with some perks that the kids and I fully take advantage of. Basically it comes down to lack of cleaning up after ourselves until the last day or two before her return. That day usually consists of us scurrying as we deep clean to the best of our ability.
Whenever she’s away, her lack of presence is definitely felt in not only our home, but in my heart as well. While time apart is healthy and needed, I’m absolutely over the moon to have her pretty face back along side me as she’s another one of those things that enriches my life greatly.
The daughter turned 21 during my absence from here as well. A lovely dinner filled with her and the wife getting wine drunk off the delicious Blackberry sangria at Carrabba’s rounded out her first “legal” drinking experience. Having my pops accompany us for the b-day celebration was the icing on the b-day cake. I’ve been terribly lately in keeping in touch with family & friends, so a dinner with pops was just the ticket I needed to kick my ass back into gear in that department.
Oh…but the daughters b-day celebration didn’t end there as she wanted to club it up. So the wife and I accompanied her Saturday evening along with her boyfriend, and a few close friends for a late night of clubbing into the wee hours. Not really my scene as I’m a shitty old man now, but she was happy and that’s all that matters. Plus, it allowed the wife and I a chance to get a bit dolled up which helps make me feel a tad more human.
As for my shop, it’s still chugging along. While the collectibles markets have been absolutely impacted by the economic situation that is plaguing the world at the moment, we have shown no signs of slowing down on purchasing collections. During tough times, folks often offload their collections for some well needed cash. I am happy to assist as collecting buying is my favorite way to build inventory on the cheap. The past few weeks have seen about 15 different Funko Pop collections alongside a monster statue one. Cha-Ching!$!$!
On the weird or negative side, I’m reminded of my dreadful ex wife. Ontop of my old neighbor dishing the deets to me of his recent run in with her, and her photo popping up on a random Facebook post from a mutual friend, I’ve all of a sudden been thrust into a situation where I’m going to have to see her in a couple of weeks. It’s a dumb legal issue that needs to finally be wrapped up after all these years, but this will be the final piece that still links us….so I’m thrilled with the fact that all ties will finally be cut after this. Good riddance…
Hmmmm…let’s see. Anything else worth mentioning…
Oh, my snazzy new tiered raised bed garden seems to be thriving. A bunch of various peppers and tomatoes are starting to come in with a purpose. Cilantro & basil have been tasty, and the zucchini squash and strawberries look to be getting ready to explode. The only plant not having a great time are my cucumbers, but I’m still hopeful and rooting for em. I’m rooting for a bountiful harvest overall as I was the butt of the jokes for one evening in my group text with some of my oldest friends. Snobby green thumbs trying to rain on my parade…overcrowded my ass…
As for my Splinterlands endeavors, I have mainly been laser focused on prepping for my land situation. The land expansion is the selling point that got me hooked into the project, so I’m really trying my best to be as prepared as I can possibly be with it. Having said that, I’m still a ways away from being at the point I was hoping to be at during the launch. Selfishly hoping for a bit of a delay on the teams release with it as to better prep. Either way, I expect big things and am excited with just how well positioned I am in this ecosystem if and when it blossoms into something truly impressive…which I fully believe will happen in time.
My limited spare time is usually marked by me plopping my tank-ass down to immerse myself in the world of movies & television. In this time, Succession ended and wrapped up beautifully. Sad to see the show come to a close, but happy they went out on top. Highly recommend this show if you have HBO…or MAX after the rebranding. Ted Lasso also finished up, and while I did tear up at a few points…I felt like the magic that made the first 2 seasons such a magical ride…was not so present in the third and final season. I think there wasn’t enough Ted Lasso in Ted Lasso. But I was happy with it overall. In movies, Across the Spider-Verse was a masterpiece. As a Spidey fan, it was a blast to see all the fun Easter eggs and references planted in this visual stunner. Definitely going to see it again soon.
Other than that, same ol’ same ol’…
Back in a flash,
