Steem supply is a tool that gives an overview of your expected earnings for a week on the Steem blockchain. It has other information such as the your potential growth, how much percentage you are getting from the reward pool and so on.

We are going to focus on the account value on Steem supply. Actually someone brought it to my attention that Steem supply gives a different value of the account to what is obtainable on the Steemit site. I decided to investigate and this is what I found out.

In the screenshot above the value of blessedman939 account is $238 at 2:57 am local time. This is in sharp contrast to what you have on the Steemit site as below:

And the eSteem app too:

The value of the blessedman939 account on the Steemit website is $214.30 at 3:02 am and $214.305 on the eSteem app at 3:08 am local time. The value for the eSteem app and the Steemit site is approximately the same.

Reason for a different value on Steem supply.

The high value of the account on the Steem supply is due to the fact that it calculates based on the CURRENT VALUE OF STEEM while the value on Steemit.com and eSteem app is based on average value of Steem over a seven day period.

The million dollar question is which is better estimated value in dollars(eSteem and Steemit.com) or current value in dollars(Steem supply).

To find out which is better lets have a look at the the value of the account couple of minutes later starting with Steem supply:

The current value of the account is now $241 at 3:22am. That is an increase of $3 from our first screenshot 25 minutes later.

Now lets have a look at the value on Steemit.com and eSteem app. This is shown below:

1511577748169.jpg

The screenshot above shows the estimated value of the account to be $214.31 at 3:27am local time. This has a difference of $0.01 from our first reading on the Steemit website 25 minutes later.

The value on eSteem app is shown below:

1511577286495.jpg

The screenshot above shows a value of $214.305 at 3:25 am. The value is the same on the eSteem app 17 minutes later.

Conclusion

There is nothing wrong having a current value of account as shown on Steem supply however having an estimated value of account based on the average value of Steem over a 7 day period prevents fluctuation in account value.

Some users do not pay attention to detail and might actually think its a bug when you have different value on Steemit.com or eSteem app and Steem supply.

A screenshot of the Steem supply below shows the current account at $231 at 4:08am, a drop of $10 from $241 at 3:22am. This is shown below:

My suggestion to Steem supply is to have both current value of account and estimated value of account over a 7 day period. This will ensure users have an accurate view of their account value at any point in time.
