I was introduced to Tiktok last week for the first time. So if you are not a fan of nice looking women doing little sexy dances half naked, videos around pimple popping, tsunamis and flight crash videos then it is not for you. Luckily however I am into all of those and the more I liked the more the algorithm went after the plane crash videos/ tsunamis, pimples and sexy dances. I have never been on a social media like it where the age old marketing "sex sells" has been lifted up and taken into the modern era.
Tiktok must have had their wrists slapped for people showing off a bit too much on their live videos so they have strict rules in place around nakedness. However that doesn't stop a large percentage of girls on the platform showing off as much as they can. One video I stumbled upon was someone with 100k folowers and every like she got, she twerked. So she was in the middle of a conversation about the salads she likes and was twerking away to beat the band. It is all just terribly funny. 100k followers has her doing 100k twerks if my maths are correct. It is ridiculous. Some videos are just a pair of knickers on a bed and the host is in the shower. It is just mad the world we live in today. I came off social media a couple of years back. I was scrolling through some facebook posts one night and it was people just looking for attention and realised this is not for me. Tiktok is a site where you go onto for a few minutes to kill time while waiting for a bus. Some things are funny on it and some are just sad.
I did get a couple of new songs out of it however because most of the videos do have background songs. To make it better the song names are actually at the bottom of the videos. There are some dances that go viral and people are replicating them which are funny. I really like this song. Maybe one of the African people on Hive can tell me if it is as big down there as it is here. @trucklife-family will like this one.
The thing about Tiktok is you stumble on videos when you scroll up so videos get more views. If I had a band that wanted more exposure I would be on Tiktok playing until someone noticed me rather than in a street busking. Even better to be on the street recording yourself on Tiktok. I can see why young people see it as a way to make money and get famous.
I think the power of Tiktok and music was felt in 2020 when a guy roller bladed down a hill listening to Fleetwood Mac
I am enjoying the a trend on Tiktok. It's young people taking a video of their old haggard parents that have seen their best days past them. They say that they were beating men and women off them with a stick when they were young and then they put up a montage of photos of them back then. I could watch them all day and I like the Madonna song as well. Such an underrated song. Here is an example below. Some of the old people were stunners back in the day. I had to laugh some girl did it for her mother who was early 40's and I was saying to myself that she would still need that stick that she had. Cut to the montage and she was the exact same as she is now.
So that's it for my three Tiktok Tunes. Thanks to @ablaze for running this community. We still don't have a home bud. We are nomads going from one community to the next. Sort it out, It want a C/TTT
