I found za Germans were more into the cash than cashless. big into their privacy. They go to the baker for bread , butcher for meat and candlestick maker for their candlesticks. The UK and the states are going all guns blazing to cashless. The new Amazon stores , you don't even have to scan your goods. I do have to admit though. I like an aul tap of the card.
