Add GPS location and shutter options feature to the application

Flipside Camera

Flipside Camera is an open source mobile application that can be used to take pictures, The application is lightweight as it is easy to download and does not use up memory space.

The application has some nice features but in my opinion there are some features that should be added to the application. They are GPS location (Geo-tagging) and shutter options.

GPS location and shutter options feature are beneficial for applications like Flipside camera. I noticed the camera does not have these features. I will like to suggest the addition of these features.

Proposal

Shutter options will allow user choose other way by which they can take pictures.

• One of the options should be touch screen (the application provides the option already but only in the middle of the screen). The touch screen mode, users should be able to tap on any side of the screen to take pictures especially in cases where users hands can not reach the center of the screen (For example, devices with large screen size).
• Another option that should be included is volume and power button shutter option. The volume and power button shutter option allows users to take pictures with buttons present outside the screen (the button used in increasing volume and powering on/off the device by the side of the phone). This can come in handy when the user has a broken/faulty screen so users can easily take pictures at any time with the buttons. Also when users have to take pictures that makes it compulsory for them to stretch their hands especially when taking selfies, this feature comes in very handy and useful.

GPS location (Geo-tagging) feature adds the location where the picture was taken by the user to the picture. This feature uses the GPS to detect location and attaches the location to the picture so users can remember or know the exact location a picture was taken. Before taking a picture, the feature should be turned on. So with the feature turned on the feature will automatically use wifi and data network to search for the location, time and date the a picture was taken and it will be attached to the picture appropriately.

After clicking Shutter options a drop down menu should appear showing all the possible options and users can select a preferred option.

Benefits

These features are highly important. Users can easily take great group and single selfies and get wide angle shots and over head shot because they can take pictures with the volume/power button feature. This will really boost user satisfaction and flexibility.
Also, while taking pictures of beautiful memories users can easily recall the location, time and date that pictures where taken by using the GPS location (Geo-tagging) feature.
These features are very beneficial because while taking selfies and pictures of great group moments using the shutter options provided, the GPS location tracks the location where the picture is been taken and this is great for a user.
