In many ancient civilizations and in several religions, deers are the representation of the forest spirit. I have read many stories and tales about the forest spirit as a deer. In several ones the guiding spirits become demons when humans starts destroying and polluting everything. Dunno if the forest have indeed a deer as a protecting being but if I ever find a deer in my path I will thank it for all they do.
