Feliz inicio de semana para todos, amigos de Hive! Hace poco terminé de ver esta serie llamada Kingdom, y pensé en comentárselas por aquí, y darles mi opinión. En mi primer Review les conté que me gustaba el terror, y los doramas (series coreanas), así que si te gusta el tema del horror sigue leyendo.

Happy start of the week to you all, Hive friends! I recently finished watching this series called Kingdom, and I thought I would tell you about it here, and give you my opinion. In my first Review I told you that I like horror, and doramas (Korean series), so if you're into horror keep reading.

Kingdom is a Netflix original Korean series, directed by Kim Sung Hoon, and written by Kim Eun Hee. Based on the manhwa Country of God and kingdom of the gods Ylab, and aired on in 2019.

It consists of two seasons, each of 6 episodes, and its genre as I mentioned before is horror, as well as science fiction, and historical because it is one of those dramas developed "in the ancient era of Korea" in this case, Joseon.

Currently, it is in the waiting for the third season, meanwhile it was recently released a special episode also available on Netflix, called Kingdom: Ashin of the North that tells a part of the story, which I will explain later.
Importantly, it won Best Writer for Kim Eun Hee, and Best Actor for Joo Ji Hoon at the Asia Contents Awards 2020.
On the other hand, the series mainly stars Joo Ji Hoon. Other cast members would be: Bae Doo Na, Ryu Seung Ryong, Kim Sang Ho, Kim Sung Kyu, Kim Hye Joon, Heo Joon Ho, Jun Suk Ho, and Kim Tae Yool.

Kingdom es una serie coreana original de Netflix, dirigida por Kim Sung Hoon, y escrita por Kim Eun Hee. Basada en el manhwa Country of God y kingdom of the gods Ylab, y emitida el en 2019. Consta de dos temporadas, cada una de seis episodios, y su género como lo mencioné antes es terror, además de ciencia ficción, e histórico porque es de esos dramas desarrollados “en la época antigua de Corea” en Joseon. Actualmente, se está en la espera de la tercera temporada, mientras tanto se lanzó recientemente un episodio especial disponible también en Netflix, llamado Kingdom: Ashin of the North que cuenta una parte de la historia, que ya explicaré más adelante. Es importante mencionar que, ganó el premio a Mejor Escritor para Kim Eun Hee, y al Mejor Actor para Joo Ji Hoon en el Asia Contents Awards 2020. Por otra parte, la serie está protagonizada principalmente por Joo Ji Hoon. Otros miembros del reparto son: Bae Doo Na, Ryu Seung Ryong, Kim Sang Ho, Kim Sung Kyu, Kim Hye Joon, Heo Joon Ho, Jun Suk Ho, y Kim Tae Yool.

SINOPSIS

The story is set in ancient Korea, in Joseon. The crown prince (son of the king and a concubine) tries to see his father, but the Queen does not allow him to do so because he is sick and could be contagious.

Meanwhile in a small hospital in a nearby village, the sick people complain because they do not have enough food, the nurses and the doctor in charge, waiting for the doctor and master of medicine, who came from the royal palace to personally attend to the King. He brings with him a corpse with deep wounds and unexplained bites.

The student physician and disciple of the doctor tries to find food for the patients in the forest, such as herbs and roots. When she returns she sees everyone happily eating "a deer" that one of the resident patients had caught. Everyone was happily enjoying themselves and she herself joins in to serve more dishes, until she gets a human finger in the food.

Horrified by this, she argues with the man, but he blatantly complains about the famine and that it is necessary for survival. Instantly, they all begin to convulse and die, after which they revive in the form of beasts and think only of attacking and eating. That is, they become zombies.

On the other hand, in the palace the prince tries to see his sick father at all costs, and enters the King's chambers, but he does not find him, but among the shadows he hears sounds like a beast, and frightened the guards find him and prevent him from seeing his father by orders of the Queen.

Then the prince asks for help to his royal guard to investigate what is happening and he brings with him the book of nursing deeds, and when he reads it he realizes that something strange is happening with the King and that he is in danger.

La historia se desarrolla en la época antigua de Corea, en Joseon. El príncipe heredo, (hijo del rey y una concubina) trata de ver a su padre, pero la Reina no se lo permite ya que según, este está enfermo y podría ser contagioso. Mientras tanto en un pequeño hospital dentro de un pueblo cercano, las personas enfermas se quejan porque no tienen suficiente comida, las enfermeras y la médico bajo cargo, esperan al doctor y maestro en medicina, que venía del palacio real de atender personalmente al Rey. Este trae consigo un cadáver que presentaba heridas profundas y mordidas inexplicables. La médico estudiante y discípula del doctor trata de buscar comida para los pacientes, en las montañas, como yerbas y raíces. Cuando esta regresa ve a todos comiendo a gusto “un venado” que había cazado uno de los pacientes residentes.

Todos estaban alegres disfrutando y ella misma se une para servir más platos, hasta que consigue un dedo humano dentro de la comida.
Horrorizada de aquello discute con el hombre, pero el descaradamente se queja de la hambruna y de que es necesario para sobrevivir. Al instante, todos comienzan a convulsionar y a morir y seguido de esto reviven en forma de bestias y sólo piensan en atacar y comer. Es decir, se convierten en zombies.
Por otra parte, en el palacio el príncipe trata de ver a toda costa a su padre enfermo, y entra a los aposentos del Rey, pero no lo encuentra, sino que entre las sombras escucha sonidos como de una bestia, y asustado los guardias lo encuentran y le prohíben de nuevo ver a su padre por órdenes de la Reina.
Luego el príncipe, le pide ayuda a su guardia real para que investigue que sucede y este trae consigo el libro de escrituras de enfermería, y al leerlo se da cuenta que algo extraño está sucediendo con el Rey y que está en peligro.

After what happened in the hospital, some palace guards come across the corpses of patients who had been buried, or rather, kept under the floors of the palace, and they are taken to the Royal Palace to be investigated.

Knowing this, the doctor and the man responsible for cooking the first corpse go to the site to explain to everyone that these people were not dead, and that they would soon revive, but no one believes them and they are arrested. Then, at night, just as they had said, the corpses wake up and begin to attack everyone in the palace.

This is how the disease begins to spread little by little. Meanwhile the prince and his royal guard, join the doctor and the other patient, to investigate the main cause of all this, and help the people to survive. The doctor explains to them, under the writings of her Master doctor, of the existence of the Resurrection Plant, capable of reviving a dead person.
The prince suspects his father's illness and this could be related. And then, the Queen and his father, who holds high office within the Kingdom, issues an arrest warrant against the prince for revealing himself against His Majesty the King.

Después de lo sucedido en el hospital, algunos guardias del palacio se topan con los cadáveres de los pacientes que habían sido sepultados, o mejor dicho, guardados debajo de los pisos de este, y son llevados al Palacio Real para ser investigados. Sabiendo esto, la doctora y el hombre responsable de cocinar al primer cadáver se dirigen al sitio para explicarle a todos que esas personas no estaban muertas, y que pronto revivirían, aunque nadie les cree y los arrestan. Entonces, llegada la noche, tal como lo habían dicho, los cadáveres se despiertan y comienzan a atacar a todos en el palacio. Así es como comienza a extenderse la enfermedad poco a poco. Mientras tanto que el príncipe y su guardia real, se unen a la doctora y al otro paciente, para investigar la causa principal de todo esto, y ayudar al pueblo a sobrevivir. La doctora les explica, bajo las escrituras de su Maestro, de la existencia de la Planta de la Resurrección, capaz de revivir a una persona muerta. El príncipe sospecha que la enfermedad de su padre y esta podrían estar relacionadas. Y luego, la Reina y su padre quien posee alto cargo dentro del Reino, emiten una orden de arresto contra el príncipe por revelarse contra Su Majestad el Rey.

So, the prince must not only fight against these zombies or human beasts but also solve the political problems within the Palace. And try to exercise his authority by taking care of his people, as well as trying to investigate the Resurrection Plant together with and the cure for all this malaise that affects the entire population, , in order to be able to survive, save and protect those within reach.

Así que, el príncipe no sólo debe luchar contra estos zombies o bestias humanas sino que también debe solucionar los problemas políticos dentro del Palacio y tratar de ejercer su autoridad cuidando de su pueblo, además de tratar de investigar la Planta de la Resurrección junto con la Doctora y la cura para todo este malestar.

OPINIÓN PERSONAL

Seeing everyone fighting with swords and arrows, and the occasional firearm, seeing the doctor investigate the behavior of the revived, along with the data and information that her master left her in order to find a cure, the scenery of the Royal Palace, the costumes of that time of the Joseon dynasty, the protocol of the reign and the throne, I think it is a work of very good quality.

Personally, I can say that I find very creative the development of the story, the existence of zombies in an ancient time where science was not very advanced, and mostly used traditional medicine, with acupuncture and herbal remedies treatment, in which survival was even more difficult, and technology was too scarce.

In general, I think the plot is very good, the ingenuity to fight against these human beasts, and on the other hand, wanting the prince to reach the throne, since everything revolves around a plot in the Palace to prevent him from becoming King, and this is noticeable from the first chapter.
Also, Joo Ji Hoon's acting is excellent, I can see why he was given the award for best actor of 2020 at the Asia Contents Awards 2020.

Something I did notice, is that the acting of the zombies, was not very shocking for my taste, however it is a detail that can be obviated counting on all the good points I mentioned above.

Sincerely, I recommend watching this series 100%.

Personalmente, puedo decir me parece muy creativo el desarrollo de la historia, la existencia de los zombies en una época antigua donde la ciencia no estaba muy avanzada, y se utilizaba más que todo la medicina tradicional, con acupuntura y el tratamiento de remedios hechos con yerbas, en el que el sobrevivir era aún más difícil, y la tecnología era demasiado escaza.

El ver luchar a todos con espadas, y flechas, y una que otra arma de fuego, ver a la doctora investigar por sí misma el comportamiento de los revividos, junto con los datos e información que le dejó su maestro para poder encontrar una cura, los escenarios del Palacio Real, las vestimentas de aquella época de la dinastía de Joseon, el protocolo del reinado y el trono, me parece que es una obra de muy buena calidad.

De manera general, creo que la trama es muy buena, el ingeniárselas para luchar contra estas bestias humanas, y por la otra, el querer que el príncipe llegue al trono, ya que todo gira en torno a un complot en el Palacio para evitar que se convierta en Rey, y esto se nota desde el primer capítulo.
Además, la actuación de Joo Ji Hoon es excelente, ya entiendo por qué le dieron el premio al mejor actor del 2020 en el Asia Contents Awards 2020.
Algo que sí note, es que la actuación de los zombies, no era muy impactante para mi gusto, sin embargo es un detalle que se puede obviar contando con todos los buenos puntos que mencioné anteriormente.

Sinceramente, recomiendo ver esta serie al 100%.
