At SCA events, there was the "Singing away the pain" thing. There's a local group of individuals, both young men and young women, but older ones as well, who are survivors of domestic abuse. And they will tell their stories in song, and use songs to help each other, and people new to the group. The ones that founded the group are people who are trained therapists who are also SCA members. The whole premise, from what I learned of the group, is to have a support group within the SCA that helps domestic abuse survivors put their lives back together, and to be there when things get hard, or to just be there as friends.
