Though to nature's credit, they've now found microbe and fungi that not only survive in highly radioactive environments, but thrive and actually FEED on the radioactivity. In Chernobyl, for example, in the area known as the "elephant's foot" where the slag is so radioactive that a human cannot survive more than 4 minutes anywhere near it, remote drones have found that in that damp area, there are microbes and fungi living on and around that insanely radioactive slag.
Though I fear for our future when the concrete dome known as "The Tomb" in the bikini islands collapses.
