Sadly, though, I can see humans eventually banding together, and trying to completely obliterate this area, killing, maiming, and cruelly treating all of the residents, and then spitting on those left harmed and homeless in its wake.

Kinda like how, in the USA, white supremacists did to the black residents of Tulsa, OK, where they, quite literally, burned down almost the entire city. It was known as the "Black Wall-Street", and was a wealthy neighborhood were the majority of the residents, and the wealthiest of the residents were all minorities. The whites at the time were FURIOUS at the very idea that black individuals, and other minorities, could ACTUALLY become wealthy and successful.

They went on a hate-filled rampage and began to loot and burn the place to the ground, and murdered every man, woman, and child, they could catch. They even hired people in crop dusters to fly over and drop molotov cocktails on homes and businesses, in essence, "bombing" them.

Not only did the state and federal government not intervene, they gave tact permission, and encouragement, to the rioters to completely destroy the homes and businesses of the black community, the "Unwanteds", all because these individuals had managed to make a community of their own, and were trying to live good, peaceful, successful, lives free of oppression.

The pain of that tragedy, and all the ramifications, and the HATE that fueled it, live on to this day, a little over 100 years later.
