The problems for us common sense preppers, unfortunately, are two-fold. Some individuals scream that prepping, at all, is "insane" and those that do so should be put in an institution or "medicated for paranoia!", and then you have the other side of the coin, the ones who are the "lone wolf preppers" who scream that common sense preppers are "lazy and soft". That ones that are laying in plans to help build communities and teach those that are willing to work together how to survive as a group rather than focusing on an "us vs the rest of the world" mentality are "going to die and deserve it".
So ones like myself are, sadly, caught in the middle. My prepping plans include, as I stated earlier, gathering things multiple people can use, such as the spare spinning wheels, and gathering enough seeds to grow enough food for a large number of people, not just me and a half-dozen others. And yes, that includes getting enough weapons for everyone, but also asking that everyone contribute in their skills, too. Hunters, people to gather food, people to help prepare and preserve food, people to help with keeping watch, people to help make clothing and spin yarn, etc.
What people, at least the "lone wolf preppers" often forget is just because someone isn't physically fit, doesn't mean that they can't be absolutely invaluable in a SHTF scenario. Don't need two good legs to sew cloth together into clothing. Don't need to be fast, or strong, to sterilize and treat an injury. Don't need to be hale and young to cook a good meal and preserve the excess., etc.
