Bonobos are well known to he, ahem, "fun loving" primates very similar to humans. In many ways, even on the genetic level, they are THE closest living relatives to humans on this planet. It would not be, especially now with the CRISPR technology, especially difficult to splice human DNA into the bonobo and make them more like primitive humans.
