Chapter 3.
In Verse 1-9. Paul was trying to warn Timothy that in the last days, there will be perilous time and those times will come where people will be lovers of themselves instead of God. They will actually prioritise pursuing that which makes them happy much more than that which make God happy and we must be very careful of them all. We should be very careful of people who will rise up on the last day to attack the truth just as jannes and jambres did against Moses and that's why we must always be watchful.
In Verse 10-17. Paul was admonishing Timothy to stay faithful to that doctrine which he has always followed. He was reminding Timothy of how he has been taught the scriptures from childhood and one thing I learnt also is we should make sure we teach our children as parents the scripture from their childhood. That link up back to the word that says train up your child in the way he should grow and when he is grow, he will not depart from it. Paul rounded up to tell Timothy that the scripture was given to us for doctrines, for corrections, for reproof and for instructions so that we can be thoroughly equipped for the good work.
Chapter 4.
In Verse 1-8. Paul was trying to tell Timothy to continue preaching the gospel. And correct False Doctrines in patience. He was also telling Timothy never to get to a point where he is afraid of suffering for the Lord. Paul was trying to tell us that his life has been sold out for Jesus as an offering. He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race and he has kept the faith. At the end of the day, the prize that await him for keeping all this is the crown of righteousness.
In Verse 9-2. Paul was trying to reach out to Timothy to come quickly as people has forsaken him. One of them is demas who has forsaken Paul because he get to a time, he love the things of this world much more than the kingdom. Only Luke was with him then and not only that but also he was sending to mark to come because he will be useful for him in ministry.
In Verse 13-18. It was pointed out that Paul was a lover of books as he told Timothy to bring his book along. He said all those time he was faced with hard time, the Lord stood by him and give him strength and that is what we should always learn also. When things are hard and it seems people forsaken us, we should always lean to God to give us strength.
