Hashing algorithm
The Bitcoin fork will use the Bitcoin Core hashing algorithm. Mining the fork will be more profitable for miners because there is less mining competition on the fork than on Bitcoin as the hashing algorithm is the same as Bitcoin Core is using.
In case of an attack
If there are malicious mining attacks where the Fork seems to fail, the Bitcoin fork will switch instantly the proof of work algorithm to an ASIC resistant POW. Maybe to ethereum's POW since Ethereum will switch POS whereas all the GPU hash power would be available for the Bitcoin Fork chain.
Estimate Release Plan
- Release MVF (minimum viable fork) requirements and design spec. - Next week.
- Release first code for the MVF. - 2 to 3 weeks.
- MVF on testnet. - 3 to 4 weeks.
- MVF client release. - 4 to 5 weeks.
- Fork launch (at specific block height). - 2 months.
