What are deterministic wallets?

If you are a blockchain enthusiasts you probably know what deterministic wallets are. Deterministic wallets have a mnemonic seed which consists between 12 and 24 words generated by a specific algorithm. The purpose of that seed is that it holds a BIP32 root private key. And that root private key creates many deterministic public addresses along with the private keys. The advantage of this technology is that you only have to take care of one seed while you can use many addresses.

Now what have deterministic wallets have to do with steem?

In steem you register one account name and be happy with it. Just like in Facebook where you should only have one account and from there connect to all your friends. At first glance, this approach seems okay but it has huge flaws. Users have different facets in their live and people do not want them all expressed in one account. People have a work live, a private live, their hobbies and so on. And for all of those different subjects, people could have separate deterministic accounts.

Could deterministic user accounts could solve the problem of multiple accounts?

Users would not have to create multiple accounts and manage them accordingly. Users would have one root account and they would be able to create as many derived accounts as they wish, but managed within their root account. Youtube has a similar approach while they are not deterministic.

Why are deterministic steem accounts the way to go?

Deterministic user accounts give you more freedom what content you post on what derived account. Now, that slowly more sites are building their technology on the steem blockchain (e.g. busy.org, dmania.lol, d.tube, live.io, steepshot.io) it seems obvious that users need more account flexibility.

Thank you for your consideration. What do you think about this suggestion?
